So make sure you do a restore point. Even though it says that 7.3 is fine for BD and advisor said everything is good to go on my machine, no blu ray audio. Go to control panel/ hardware & sound/ device manager/ scroll down to sound video & game conrollers. Well I guess my problem is solved, other than I have to pony up the money to turn the trial version into the licensed version.

If like myself you want audio output through SPDIF disable audio through HDMI. So, in conclusion your post was totally irrelevant to this situation. In the Volume Control window, please check that the system volume is not muted. I just did a clean install (32 bit) and installed all updates and had this problem.
There is no problem with the software.... It was too much/hard to read.
