Can search locally on the HD but not network drive connected via SMB. Anyone having dealt with this issue that has actually solved it!? HELP!!!!! have a peek here It only would work for a few hours, though.
My spotlight works fine (still using the GM) - but I don't like the 'improvement' either. Spotlight Server Is Disabled Spotlight now indexing after weeks of trying this and that… maybe I can find my birthday in iCal now?! So far I've done a clean install, re-indexed at least a dozen times, and every other suggestion given on various forums.

How do I tell people, It's the best computer I have ever used, it just can't search your Network or NAS. And then when i try to type my password , nothing comes out . I've tried reindexing and I've also tried deleting Spotlight's .plist file. Check This Out Yep, you can see why it's pure genius.

The blue thing came up after restart… it said it was going to take 2+ hours, but then it ended in like 30 minutes.
