Thanks for voting! It didn't work at first, then removed headphones, now audio is clear then replugged earphones = working!! Cause is bad contacts inside the heahphone jack, in the Mac. There may be a system or hardware update available that will fix the issues you're having.

Followed your tip and PLUGGED IN/OUT my headsets. So they told me to bring it in. I couldn't find that option in Output. It doesn't matter if you mute or un-mute, lower or increase volume, change sources, it's just gone.
