In Figure 4, the leads are C-B-E from top-to-bottom. (The NTE equivalent is the NTE-287.) A 1N5245 15 volt, 1/2 watt Zener diode. Make sure that the four black screws are tightened firmly - but not so tight that you crack the plastic. It's a bit of a pain, but it's not terribly difficult to do as it is the same procedure as would be followed for replacing the headlight. There was also some metal flakes attached to the magnetic plug.
