You can opt to use it that way and spend nothing on repairs, as many other people with bad lower RAM slots have done. My 12" iBook & Powerbook are both 512Mb short of their maximum...I'm in no hurry to upgrade them. This is important because in addition to slots going bad, these PowerBooks are touchy in terms of RAM, so certain modules won't be recognized even though they have the right specs. Okay, here goes with a recap. This Site I can't be sure of the exact time that it happened because I didn't start investigating my RAM slots until hearing about this from others.
