Printer Spooler Is Not Working


Go to: c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers If your OS is 32 Bit go to : W32X86 If your OS is 64 bit go to : x64 *WARNING - THIS WILL DELETE ALL INSTALLED PRINTERS* You may need to close the Properties window and/or restart your computer before the changes take effect. Before un-installing/removing any print driver(s), be sure to disconnect the printer from the computer. I was gald I did.

This can happen if Print Spooler relies on other services which are not running. This information is great -  but--- how do i start the services?  I have gone into system information and found the print spooler and it says its stopped. I went into Control Panel>performance>admin tasks> services and turned it back on, as suggested in the Help in XP, but it keeps turning itself off again. Can someone tell me HOW TO GET THE PRINT SPOOL SERVICE running again.  All the threads complain of the problem, with little or no solutions, except for a network system. So I am thinking Printui.exe is not going to help me until I can get the spooler running. Any further suggestions? It lead me to TheITBros site - remove-windows-vista7-printer-driver.

Plug your printer back in and follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall the printer. As stated previously I do not see any files in the /windows/system32/spool/Printers directory. Make sure the "Status" of the components(services) listed in that pane is "Started" and that their "Startup Type" is set to "Automatic". I tried to delete the files in \windows\system32\spool\printers but did not find any files there. I have only had this system for 2 months, and have had to post help questions 3 times already.
