Hmm - that doesn't seem to fix the problem either. textedit) does not care about that settings. How can I check what dictionary I'm using? (I fear I might have none installed.) Note that MacWord offers spell-check for many languages, but will only check the grammar for a few, and will not offer definitions for anything but English.
